29 October 2020

Dear Members and friends,

The Christmas décor and props going up in the shops is a stark reminder that we are speeding towards the end of 2020 at the speed of light. We are certainly looking forward to the end of the year and the prospects of a holiday filled with rest, relaxation and celebrations – especially after the 18VL horror suspense drama episode that 2020 turned out to be!

It’s been a rough year full of unexpected and unprecedented surprises and plot twists indeed. But before we drop the curtain on 2020 and call it a day, there is still a lot of fun and excitement in store for you! Read on to see what we have in store for you.

And while you were still doing 2020, the Rides Committee worked hard on our 2021 rides and events calendar. Not only are we looking to catch up on what we’ve lost this year, but so much more. Keep an eye out for next year’s crème-de-la-calendar!

(November spoiler – we have a CLUB NIGHT and were going to the city of love!!!)

Club night social – Friday 6 November 2020 18h00 for 19h00

Yes, after a cruel absence of 7 months we will be having an in-the-flesh club night again in November! The current lockdown regulations allow us to get together, providing that we practice social distancing and safety protocols. We are thankful for Bavarian Motorcycles for also opening up their shop and hosting us.

As usual, we will have the bar open from around 18h00 and the club meeting will start at 19h00, followed by some fine and safe social engagement under the stars.

Remember to bring some cash – we will be preparing delicious boerewors rolls and our behind-the-bar staff will make sure that you don’t leave thirsty. The lifestyle shop will also be open, so make a point to pop in if you want to really add some sizzle to your wardrobe, or even just to collect all the awesome stuff you bought during lockdown.

Early Bird Membership Renewals – NOW OPEN

If you missed our early bird membership renewal news, then what rock have you been living under?!?! Ok, ok, we all miss some news now and again… The point being: Early bird membership renewals are open, but only until 31 December 2020.  All existing members that renew during this period won’t only do this at the 2020 rates, but qualify for a 50% COVID-19 discount on their 2021 membership fees!  Please note that you must be a fully paid-up 2020 member to qualify for this special discounted early bird renewal.

If you are not yet a member, or haven’t been a 2020 member due to (*cough cough*) circumstances, you can still apply for membership at the 2020 rates and joining fee. The 2021 rates  are going up, so better make your investment now and make it count!

TAR ride to Parys – Sunday 8 November 2020 08:00 for 08:30 *RSVP REQUIRED

PLEASE NOTE: You are going to have to RSVP here, because the venue has limited space available. Don’t worry, it’s quick and easy and you can even do this in two ticks on your mobile phone!

DIRT ride to Parys – Sunday 8 November 2020 07:00 for 07:30 *RSVP REQUIRED

Dirt Captain Theo invites you to a lazy 50/50 green-rated tar and gravel ride towards O’s Restaurant in Parys (yes, the Tar and Dirt group will meet up at the same venue!). This ride will take you around 4 hours with multiple stops to stretch your legs. Remember to pack some water, snacks and your mask, of course!

PLEASE NOTE: You are going to have to RSVP here, because the venue has limited space available. Don’t worry, it’s quick and easy and you can even do this in two ticks on your mobile phone!

Click on the links above to see more information on the website forum, and attend the club night for the latest updates on these rides!

In wrapping up this newsletter, good luck to all our members that will be renewing their First Aid Level 2 certifications. It’s comforting to know that you have our backs!  And speaking of… it’s glad to have our in-person club night social back. The committee is looking forward hosting the first club night in a while. Until then, keep it safe – on and off the road…
