We were very excited to see the move to Level 1 lockdown restrictions and this certainly opens up many more opportunities for the Club to start returning to our “normal” club activities. While we are still sorting out the arrangements for our next in-person club night, the Club Committee made the decision to restart our monthly club rides from October 2020.  You can look forward to a tar, dirt and moon ride during the month of October, as well as subsidised First Aid Level 2 training. Thank you to our Rides Committee for their hard work in arranging routes and venues while certain limitations and restrictions still apply.

On-line Club Night Social – Friday, 2 October 2020 @ 18h00

While we are planning towards our first in-person club night in months, we will be chatting over the airwaves again this coming Friday evening.  Please make a point of popping in – we’ll be sharing some details on how the club activities are impacted by the recent move to Level 1 lockdown.  I do suggest that you give the Zoom meeting a try and test that your audio and video are working beforehand. Although video is not a requirement to join the meeting, it certainly adds to the experience!  So grab a cold one and join us for the latest news and events. Please note that this meeting will start at 18h00 to leave some room for dinner!

IMPORTANT: Club Ride RSVP

You will appreciate the challenge to make arrangements with most venues due to limitations on the number of guests that they can accommodate. For this reason we require attendance numbers in advance to ensure that the venue can make adequate arrangements in time for our arrival. On top of this, there is ongoing construction at our normal departure point, BP Centurion, so we are going to have to make use of alternative departure points from October onwards.

As always, we are aiming to make this as quick and easy as possible for you.  We are introducing an online RSVP form where you can indicate which ride you will be joining and how many people we can expect.  We will also ask you for your contact details to communicate the departure point and other details, such as GPS routes and specific arrangements where applicable.

Just because we moved to Level 1 lockdown, it doesn’t mean that the Covid-19 virus has disappeared. So we will also include information to help you decide whether you should join a club ride or not. If you are a high-risk person (showing symptoms, been in contact with someone that tested positive, high-risk occupation, etc.) or if you are a vulnerable person (older than 60, co-morbidities, respiratory / cardiac conditions, etc.), please consider the risks involved before you join a club ride. We will however still comply with the relevant regulations and best practices as far as possible.

Please also note that we will continue to publish the rides events on the Club’s Facebook page, but please don’t rely on this for RSVP purposes, because we won’t have your contact information to communicate the ride details back to you.  So please help us to help you!

Tar Ride to Imagine Café – Sunday 4 October 2020 @ 07h30 for 08h00

Please join Andy and Donna on the first tar ride in ages out towards Imagine Café in Bronkhorstspruit.  The venue offers a buffet breakfast (R120) or pick from the a la carte menu.  This promises to be a great morning out, so don’t miss it! Awesome company included free of charge :)

Kindly note that health and social safety protocols will apply.  Please complete the quick RSVP for this ride by clicking on this link before Friday 2 October 2020 @ 18h00.  The departure point and GPS route (if applicable) will be sent to all those that completed the online RSVP form.

Green Dirt Ride to Que Sera – Sunday 4 October 2020 @ 07h00 for 07h30

You are invited to join me for an easy and relaxing green dirt ride to Que Sera.  Yes, we are all a bit rusty after the long lockdown, so this promises to be smooth sailing on gravel highways and perhaps a railway service road or two.  Bring your pillions along and enjoy a great breakfast with us.

Kindly note that health and social safety protocols will apply.  Please complete the quick RSVP for this ride by clicking on this link before Friday 2 October 2020 @ 18h00.  The departure point and GPS route (if applicable) will be sent to all those that completed the online RSVP form.

Moon Ride to a secret location 17 October 2020 @ 17h30 for 18h00

Sias will be leading this once-in-a-blue-moon ride to an old favourite venue and this promises to be a spectacular restart to the moon ride calendar!  As always, pillions, families and guests are welcome by motorcycle or by car, but space is limited, so book your spot immediately to not miss out.

Kindly note that health and social safety protocols will apply.  The RSVP link for this ride will follow shortly, but pencil this into your diary so long!

First Aid Level 2 training – Saturday 31 October 2020

This is an urgent call for everyone with a valid Level 1 or expiring Level 2 first aid certification to attend this training session specifically organised for you.  As the Club subsidises a big part of this, it will only cost you R450 and have the skills to potentially save a life.  If you are interested, please send an email to tom@bmwclubs.co.za to reserve your spot.  More details will follow with the arrangements.

We are thrilled to get back in the saddle with you. On behalf of the committee I wish to thank all of you for your patience and understanding during the past couple of months.  We are looking forward to moving back to normal with you.

And while we’re doing that, keep it safe and make great memories!
