This certainly has been a roller coaster of note… It’s tough to keep track of what is allowed and what is prohibited. The one moment we’re all celebrating a move to Level 2 lockdown with our last bottles of bubbly and the next we are panic buying some more before someone changes their mind again.  Even though we still have some way to go towards the normal we once knew, we are thankful for every opportunity that presents itself for us to enjoy our passion for our motorcycles and each other’s company.

On-line Club Night Social – Friday, 4 September 2020 @ 19h00

The previous “quickie” virtual club night was an absolute joy!  We even had one of our members, Josef Peters, joining us all the way from the Netherlands – something that wasn’t previously possible.  And in the spirit of keeping it safe and responsible within the current regulations, we’ll revert to our usual club night schedule in the form of on-line meetings until we are allowed to rub shoulders again, so to speak…

So you are cordially and officially invited to join us for another on-line club night with all the details below.  If you haven’t used Zoom before (where were you the past 5 months!?!), I do suggest that you give it a try and test that your audio and video are working beforehand. Although video is not a requirement to join the meeting, it certainly adds the sizzle to the steak!  So charge your prepaid data, pour yourselves a cold one and join us for the latest news and events.  And between you and me… (we might be sharing some more opportunities to get back in the saddle and twist the throttle!)

As a social Club we are still restricted in the activities that we are allowed to host, however the current regulations make provision for leisure travel and other smaller interactions, providing that social distancing and hygiene measures are in place.  To that extent some of our esteemed Rides Committee members have taken it upon themselves to test the water and see how we can conduct rides with the necessary safety measures in place.  I’m very happy to report that all the experiments were conducted successfully and that future experiments will be shared at our upcoming on-line club meeting ;-)

Thank you Tom, Deon and Giel for your initiative to run experiments as close as to Irene and as far away as Bedfordview and Heidelberg!

Some fine print… We would want to remind our members that participation in any experiment will require screening and safety protocols and that vulnerable or high-risk individuals carefully consider the possible implications for themselves and others before participating.

First Aid Level 2 training – Saturday 31 October 2020

This is an urgent call for everyone with a valid Level 1 or expiring Level 2 first aid certification to attend this training session specifically organised for you.  As the Club subsidises a big part of this, it will only cost you R450 and have the skills to potentially save a life.  If you are interested, please send an email to tom@bmwclubs.co.za to reserve your spot.  More details will follow with the arrangements.

We are looking forward “seeing” you next Friday for our on-line meeting.  Until then, please keep safe and use every opportunity to make new memories!
