I lodged the following question to my insurance:

And this is the reply:

Use 1: Private Use (Including to work and back)
Social and domestic purposes and travelling to and from your place of employment
EXCLUDING business or professional purposes, hiring, carriage of passengers for hire or carriage of fare paying passengers, commercial travelling, driving instruction for reward, racing, speed or other contests, rallies, trials, whilst on a race track, circuit or test circuit

Sias got hold of the Afrikaans wording which I do not have yet and according to him the English was translated from the afrikaans and the wording and subsequent meaning differs

How do you interpret this? B)

Offroad 1
Proficiency
Advance

My onmiddelike reaksie was " wat is julle bedoeling van "driving instruction for reward"
Antwoord as jy n kurses doen vir n papier
En my volgende reaksie was, maw as ek my vaardighede wil verbeter word ek gepenaliseer

I am with Santam. When I had my F800ST I asked if I was covered when doing the Proficiency Training at Swartkops and the minute the heard RACE TRACK i was told I would not be covered. I then changed my insurance.

I later went back to Santam and when I got my RT I again approached Santam for permission to do the proficiency training. This time I motivated, by email, using the wording from the web site and as this was purely training to improve my riding skills and was not a timed event I was granted permission in writing to attand the training and I was covered.

I will need to go through my email history to see if I can find that correspondence.

My 2c.

Here is Brolink's were my insurance is which is backed by Santam

Use 1: Private Use (Including to work and back)
Social and domestic purposes and travelling to and from your place of employment
EXCLUDING business or professional purposes, hiring, carriage of passengers for hire or carriage of fare paying passengers, commercial travelling, driving instruction for reward, racing, speed or other contests, rallies, trials, whilst on a race track, circuit or test circuit.

My humble opinion is that the meaning in Afrikaans and in English may be confusing
I, as customer is in the middle, and insurance companies will always put meanings to words to suit their pockets

I had my broker write cover for training events into the contract, as well as travelling for business and professional purposes as I use the bike on work trips now and then. I would be covered for ADA.
